Marian Valera Co (Philippines) is a skilled international development professional with over a decade of experience in results-based management (RBM), program oversight, evaluation, and public sector policy design. With a strong background in health economics and development economics, Marian has led transformative initiatives within the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and throughout the development ecosystem in Asia and the Pacific.
As a Management and Oversight Specialist at UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, she provided strategic guidance to seven country offices on programme planning, risk management, and quality assurance. She also played a key role in digital transformation, overseeing the development and rollout of the globally adopted Portfolio Country Office Management Solution (POCOMAS). She supported business process reform initiatives, including internal control frameworks, oversight for infrastructure projects, and partner risk assurance.
As a Results-Based Management Analyst at the UNDP Philippines Country Office, Marian led the design and implementation of performance monitoring systems, M&E tools, and evaluation processes while ensuring alignment with corporate and national frameworks. She facilitated foresight and sensemaking approaches for portfolio reviews and played a key role in UNDP Philippines achieving high-performance ratings for program results reporting.
Marian’s career also includes significant roles in government and academic institutions. She has served as an evaluator for national social protection programmes, a technical consultant for health system monitoring with the Philippines Department of Health, and a part-time lecturer in economics and health financing.
Her expertise is underpinned by her academic training, which includes an MSc in Public Health (Health Economics) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a Master’s in Development Economics from the University of the Philippines.
